Discovering Pass-A-Grille: Coastal Charm in St. Pete Beach

If you’re looking for a spot with coastal charm on Florida’s west coast, Pass-A-Grille in St. Pete Beach is a must-visit. It’s one of my favorite places in the Tampa Bay area. Pass-A-Grille combines the tranquility of a small community with the beauty of a stunning beach, making it the perfect destination for a relaxing getaway.

Located at the southern tip of St. Pete Beach, Pass-A-Grille is about 2 hours from Orlando and just over 4 hours from Miami, making it ideal for a weekend visit. If you’re flying in, the closest airport is Tampa International (TPA), just a 35–40-minute drive away. Once there, everything is within walking distance—beaches, shops, restaurants, and unforgettable views.

During my last visit, we arrived after spending the morning exploring Fort De Soto Park, a natural gem in the area. After finishing our adventure there, we headed to Pass-A-Grille for lunch and chose Brass Monkey, a restaurant right by the water.

From the terrace, we enjoyed a spectacular view of the Gulf while savoring fresh, well-prepared dishes. It was the perfect place to recharge and continue soaking in the coastal charm that defines this area.

Beyond the great food, the experience in Pass-A-Grille is enhanced by other small details. Along the beach, I saw a stand where you can rent paddle boards through a mobile app. I thought it was an excellent option—especially if you enjoy combining relaxation with a bit of physical activity on the water.

If you’re traveling with your furry friend, you’ll be happy to know there’s a small dog beach in the area, adding even more appeal for those exploring with pets.

One important detail: street parking can be limited. On weekends, it’s best to arrive early or be ready to walk a bit since you might need to park far away.

I truly love this area of St. Pete Beach — relaxed vibe, good restaurants, and plenty of ways to enjoy the ocean. I usually try to visit between Monday and Thursday, when it’s quieter and parking is easier.

So if you’re around Tampa Bay, don’t forget to add Pass-A-Grille to your list of must-see spots in the area.
