Located in the heart of the city, the Orlando Science Center (OSC) is much more than a traditional museum — it’s an interactive experience that sparks curiosity in both kids and adults. Just 45 minutes from where we live, it has become one of our favorite family outings, perfect for spending a different kind of day away from the theme parks.
Since its founding in 1955, the OSC has evolved into one of the most important science centers in the southeastern United States. With a hands-on and fun approach, learning here feels like play. You can simulate earthquakes, dig for fossils, create art through science, or explore the marine life of Central Florida in spaces that surprise at every turn.
The center features permanent exhibits such as NatureWorks, with reptiles, fish, and local ecosystems; DinoDigs, perfect for dinosaur lovers; and Kinetic Zone, where physics and engineering become fun and interactive. For younger kids, KidsTown is a miniature world complete with a supermarket, construction zones, a bubble lab, and more. There’s also a giant-screen theater, a planetarium, and a creative workshop space called The Hive, where visitors can use real tools to build and experiment.
Admission includes access to all these experiences, and the center is open from Wednesday to Monday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed on Tuesdays). In 2025, ticket prices are $24 for adults, $18 for children ages 2 to 11, and $22 for seniors 55 and older. Children under 2 enter for free, and there are discounts available for Florida residents, students, and military. If possible, buy your tickets online to save time.
