Visiting Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens

The most famous city in Palm Beach County is West Palm Beach, but the county also offers this Japanese Garden. (click to see the map)

It is located a little north of Boca Raton, west of I95, between Yamato road and Atlantic ave. About 1 hour from Miami.

To get to Morikami Museum and Gardens from Miami, head north on I95 and then take exit 81 west toward FL-806 W/Atlantic Avenue. Follow Atlantic Avenue and turn left onto Jog Road. From northern Florida, take Interstate 95 south and take exit 50 toward FL-806 W/Atlantic Avenue. Follow Atlantic Avenue and turn right onto Jog Road. The Morikami Museum and Gardens will be on your left at 4000 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach, FL.

It is open every day, except Mondays, from 10 am to 5 pm. Also closed during major holidays. You can buy the ticket when you arrive at the place and it costs $15 for people over 18 years old (June 2022). Parking is free. Here you can check out prices and schedule.

It can take an hour if you walk normally, without sitting down to rest or about 3 hours while taking your time, resting and appreciating every detail.

Wear closed shoes since a large part of the walking path has very small pebbles and when walking in sandals or flip flops, we had to stop to shake our shoes as the pebbles got into our feet.

Along the way there are several benches and areas with wheelchair ramp access as well. Enjoy the stroll by the lagoon, bridges, beautiful decor, bonsais and more.

It really is a great option for a different afternoon in South Florida.
