Tavares is located almost 1 hour away from Orlando. A place that you can visit for a few hours to explore and do something different. Let me tell you about it…
Tavares is a small city, in front of Lake Dora that, although it is not a super touristic place, you can spend a different time and very close to Orlando.
If you get to Wooton Park, you will find the Tavares Seaport, from where seaplanes depart and arrive. The city is even known for being “America’s Seaplane City”. So taking a tour on a seaplane could be a good and fun idea to see the city (and nearby places) from above.
In Wooton Park you will also find some lakefront restaurants. One time, while having lunch at Puddle Jumpers Lakeside Grill & Bar we saw the train passing in front of us. There are several options to eat with a nice view.
On another visit we just went to a super cool antique store. It has everything! There were areas where I felt in the kitchen of my house in the 80s. The store is: Through The Years Vintage Market and I really recommend it.
It is a small city, but it is a good idea for a day trip from Orlando.
